Velvet Spaw offers 50% commission, and groomers keep 100% of their personal tips. Our regular hours are Tuesday through Saturday, with the possibility of Monday and Sunday availability by mutual agreement.

Duties
- Provide professional dog grooming services, including bathing, brushing, drying, trimming, and clipping
- Perform breed-specific and owner-requested grooming styles with attention to detail
- Safely and compassionately handle dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments
- Perform nail trimming, ear cleaning, and other basic hygiene services
- Communicate professionally with pet parents to understand grooming preferences and provide excellent customer service
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary grooming area
- Properly sanitize and maintain grooming tools and equipment
- Ensure every dog receives a safe, comfortable, and positive grooming experience
- Follow salon safety, sanitation, and animal care standards
- Work as part of a professional grooming team and contribute to the continued growth of Velvet Spaw
Qualifications
- Previous professional dog grooming experience required
- Proven grooming experience with a strong professional resume and/or grooming portfolio
- Applicants must be able to provide verifiable information, references, or documentation regarding previous grooming employment or professional grooming experience
- Strong knowledge of dog grooming techniques, coat types, and breed-specific styling
- Excellent animal handling skills and the ability to work safely with dogs of different sizes and temperaments
- Passion for animal care and a commitment to the comfort and well-being of every pet
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently while also being a positive team member
- Reliable, motivated, and committed to providing high-quality grooming services
- Must be able to safely handle and groom dogs of various sizes

Duties
- Perform pet coat styling, including bathing, brushing, trimming, and clipping to meet breed standards or owner preferences
- Safely handle dogs during grooming procedures using proper animal restraint techniques
- Conduct pet nail trimming, ear cleaning, and other hygiene services with care and precision
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand grooming preferences and provide after-care advice
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming station, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and in good condition
- Assist with animal handling tasks such as kennel cleaning, pet sitting, and managing animals during grooming sessions
- Support veterinary staff with basic animal care tasks when needed, including veterinary technician or assistant duties
Qualifications
- Proven experience in pet grooming, dog handling, or animal care roles such as veterinary technician or assistant
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal behavior management
- Familiarity with veterinary experience or veterinary clinic procedures is a plus
- Strong animal handling skills with an emphasis on safety and comfort for pets during grooming processes
- Excellent communication skills to engage with pet owners confidently and professionally
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for handling larger dogs or equipment
- Prior kennel experience or pet sitting background is advantageous
- Demonstrated commitment to animal care, pet coat styling, and customer service excellence
