The Role in Brief
Array Architects is seeking an architectural specifications writer to support the development, coordination, and maintenance of project specifications across a portfolio of projects.
Working directly with the Senior Specifications Writer, this role assists in the preparation of project manuals, specification coordination, product research, and maintenance of Array's master specifications. The Specifications Writer collaborates with project teams to ensure specifications align with project requirements, design intent, and applicable codes and standards.
While healthcare experience is preferred, the successful candidate will contribute to the continued evolution of Array's specifications practice as the firm expands across multiple market sectors.
The ideal candidate brings an understanding of building materials and systems, a detail-oriented approach to construction documentation, and a collaborative mindset.
Responsibilities

Prepare and coordinate project specifications utilizing Array's master specification system.

Collaborate with project teams to align specifications with project requirements, design intent, and regulatory requirements.

Support material and product evaluation, technical research, and system selection.

Review construction documents for consistency between drawings and specifications.

Assist with maintenance and updates to Array's master specifications.

Support construction-phase review of substitutions, product data, RFIs, and specification-related questions.

Participate in quality assurance reviews and lessons learned initiatives.
Required Qualifications

5-10 years of experience with involvement in construction documentation and technical specifications writing.

An understanding of CSI MasterFormat and specification development practices.

Experience supporting healthcare, science and technology, or other complex institutional projects.

Ability to support multiple projects and coordinate directly with project teams.

Technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:

CSI CDT or CCS certification.

Experience with BSD SpecLink and healthcare-focused master specification systems.

Familiarity with FGI, NFPA, ADA, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
Work Environment & Project Site Conditions
