Job Overview
Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for leading daily warehouse, shipping, receiving, and material movement activities to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient flow of materials to, from and throughout the facility. This role supervises team members, coordinates inbound and outbound logistics, maintains inventory integrity, supports production requirements, and drives continuous improvement across warehouse and transportation operations.
The ideal candidate combines operational discipline with a service mindset, ensuring customer deliveries, supplier receipts, and internal material flow operate in an optimized manner.
Duties
Safety & Compliance
- Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all shipping and receiving operations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, company policies, and warehouse operating procedures.
- Conduct daily safety observations and corrective actions.
- Maintain forklift, dock, and material handling safety standards.
- Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
Shipping Operations
- Responsible for weekly and monthly shipment strategy to meet forecasted customer demand with planned production output and inventory.
- Optimize shipping processes and organization to maximize shipping efficiency. Scope includes personnel (man), equipment & floorspace (machine), inventory safety stock (material) and procedures (method).
- Supervise daily outbound shipments to meet customer delivery commitments.
- Coordinate carrier scheduling, dock utilization, and shipment prioritization.
- Ensure shipping documentation is accurate and complete.
- Monitor on-time shipment performance and implement improvements.
- Verify packaging, labeling, and loading standards are consistently followed.
- May assist team members with direct shipping duties.
Receiving Operations
- Manage inbound receiving processes for raw materials, purchased goods, and production supplies.
- Ensure timely receipt, inspection, and system transactions.
- Coordinate discrepancy resolution with purchasing, suppliers, and quality teams.
- Maintain FIFO practices and inventory controls.
- May assist team members with direct receiving duties.
Inventory & Material Management
- Ensure accurate inventory transactions within ERP system (Epicor / Kinetic).
- Lead cycle counting and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Support production through timely material staging and replenishment.
- Monitor warehouse organization and optimize storage utilization.
- Reduce inventory losses and material handling waste.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, coach, train, and develop shipping and receiving personnel.
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability.
- Conduct scheduling, timekeeping review, and performance evaluations.
- Build cross-training plans to improve operational flexibility.
- Foster engagement and a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience considered.
- 3 to 5+ years of shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics experience.
- 2+ years of direct leadership or supervisory experience in manufacturing preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems and inventory transactions.
- Experience coordinating freight carriers and dock operations preferred.
- Strong communication and team development skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and action-focused.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
