Summary
The Markets Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive organizational, administrative, and on-site support for markets held at both Scissortail Park and Myriad Botanical Gardens in downtown Oklahoma City. This role will coordinate and supervise the setup and breakdown of the weekly Farmer’s Market (April 11th Preview and Saturdays in May-October) to ensure a smooth and successful event as well as other markets such as Flower and Garden Festival, Tulip Festival, Night Markets, and supporting event markets like NYE, Sparkle, and Pumpkinville amongst others. Working closely with the Director of Events, this role plays a vital part in ensuring markets are executed seamlessly, from initial vendor applications, vendor approvals, logistics and layout vendor correspondence, day of coordination to event breakdown. As the primary on-site contact for markets, the Markets Specialist will serve as a key representative of the Park and Gardens, delivering exceptional customer service and coordinating logistics with internal teams and external vendors.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. This position also supports internal Scissortail Park and Myriad Botanical Gardens events when scheduling allows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage all aspects of the markets including being on-site weekly
· Work cross-functionally with other departments and staff to ensure a smooth market from start to finish
· Recruit, select, and retain market vendors, process applications, assess and collect registration fees
· Oversee market volunteers and seasonal employees on-site during markets
· Maintain strong working relationships with community partners, sponsors, and stakeholders
· Monitor the markets for compliance with market rules and ensure adherence to all local and state laws/regulations
· Maintain administrative and financial records for the markets identifying areas for growth and revenue generation
· Assist the marketing department with social media content creation and community outreach initiatives related to promotion of the markets
· Address and respectfully manage vendor inquiries, complaints/disputes, as necessary
· Oversee facilitation, recording, and reporting for the Market Nutrition Assistance programs, including SNAP/EBT, Senior Farmers Market Benefits, and Double Up Oklahoma.
· Actively engage and network via the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Dept.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

· Possess a genuine love for farmers markets and the producers and experiences they offer
· Three years of progressively responsible experience in a related field
· An associate’s degree or higher in a relevant field (Ex: Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Marketing, Environmental Sustainability, Communications, Business)
· Some experience with farmers market management or interest in promoting local, producer-only foods and agriculture
· Experience working within MarketSpread/FarmSpread software a plus
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements
- Excellent word processing skills; must have expert-level skills with MS Office, especially Excel.
- Experience in use of standard office equipment.

Work Environment
Must be able to work both indoors/outdoors and weekends. Some locations visited during the course of executing job duties may not be wheelchair accessible. Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in all weather and temperature conditions
