The New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) is a state agency responsible for maintaining the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway - two of the busiest toll roads in the United States. POSITION:
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority is seeking applications for a Jr Windows Server & Desktop Administrator in the ITS department located at Woodbridge, NJ headquarters.
Works under the general direction of the Manager, Operating System Services to provide frontline support for Windows-based systems, focusing on basic hardware and software troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance. The Jr. Windows Server & Desktop Administrator will ensure end-users have stable, functional, and secure computing environments, as well as functionality, stability, security, and expandability of the Authority’s Operating Systems environment; all of which commensurate with the Authority's goals and requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform basic hardware tasks, including system setup, component replacement (RAM, hard drives, peripherals), and workstation configuration at various Authority locations.
2. Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems on end user devices and within the Authority’s System Center Configuration Manager environment.
3. Install, configure maintain and support the use of approved software applications on end user devices and within the Authority’s System Center Configuration Manager environment.
4. Perform basic Active Directory user management tasks, including creating, modifying, disabling, and unlocking user and computer accounts in accordance with established procedures.
5. Support routine system maintenance such as patching, antivirus updates, and health checks.
6. Conduct initial troubleshooting for hardware, OS, and basic network issues.
7. Escalate complex issues to Senior Windows Server & Desktop Administrators, as needed.
8. Respond to and resolve Level 1 support tickets, within established service-level timelines.
9. Maintain accurate documentation of issues, resolutions, system configurations, and asset changes.
10. Provide clear, customer-focused communication with end users.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent working experience.
2. Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience.
3. Fundamental understanding of Windows OS environments (Windows 10/11, Windows Server basics).
4. Familiarity with Active Directory, basic networking concepts, and standard IT tools.
5. MCSA certification or other industry certification required.
6. Strong problem-solving skills and detail oriented.
7. Ability to diagnose and resolve common hardware and software issues.
8. Excellent communication and customer service orientation.
9. Must possess a valid New Jersey driving license.
BENEFITS & PAY:
Compensation starting at $63,945.00.
This position will be located at the headquarters building, in Woodbridge, NJ, with some travel to our field locations. Toll-free commutation is available for employee travel to and from work on the NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.
This position is represented by Teamsters Local 97. This position is eligible for flextime hours upon meeting the requirements outlined in the Authority’s policy and at the Authority’s ultimate discretion. Flex time is not guaranteed.
