Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as an Athletic Field Laborer and play a vital role in maintaining pristine, safe, and vibrant athletic fields. This energetic position involves hands-on groundskeeping, landscape maintenance, and equipment operation to ensure sports facilities are in top condition for athletes and spectators alike. You will be responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks, operating power tools and groundskeeping equipment, managing irrigation systems, and applying pest control measures to uphold the highest standards of field quality. Your dedication will directly contribute to creating an optimal environment for athletic events and community recreation.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance of athletic fields, including mowing, edging, aerating, and fertilizing to promote healthy turf growth.
- Operate ground maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, power trimmers, and irrigation systems safely and efficiently.
- Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs as needed.
- Conduct landscape upkeep tasks including planting, pruning, weed control, and soil preparation to enhance field aesthetics and functionality.
- Apply pesticides responsibly following safety protocols to control pests and protect turf health.
- Assist with heavy lifting of materials like soil bags, sod rolls, or equipment parts using proper manual handling techniques.
- Maintain equipment through routine inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs to ensure reliable operation.
- Support golf course groundskeeping activities when required by utilizing specialized landscaping tools and techniques.
- Operate company vehicles for transporting tools, materials, or team members between job sites while adhering to safety standards.
- Follow power tool safety guidelines during all operations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in athletic field groundskeeping or landscape maintenance is preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruners, and power tools including chainsaws and trimmers.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting safely and effectively.
- Understanding of pesticide management practices in accordance with safety regulations.
- Experience operating grounds maintenance equipment like mowers, aerators, or sprayers is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to maintaining high-quality athletic fields.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for operating company vehicles safely.
