Position Summary:
First Urology is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and highly motivated Medical Assistant- Triage. Must be able to multi-task and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced clinical setting. Will be supporting licensed medical staff in providing excellent care and ensuring the comfort, safety, and overall well-being of our patients. Current Medical Assistants, MA students, and nursing PCAs are encouraged to apply. Certification is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to):

Taking medical history
-
Explaining treatment procedures to patients

Preparing patients for examinations
-
Assisting the clinical team during examinations
-
Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
-
Performing basic laboratory tests and diagnostics
-
Instructing patients about medication and special diets
-
Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse, nurse practitioner or physician assistant)

Transmitting prescription refills as directed

Phlebotomy
-
Taking electrocardiograms
Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):

Utilizing EMR system

Answering telephones
-
Welcoming patients
-
Updating and filing patient medical records

Filling out insurance forms

Scheduling appointments
-
Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services

Handling different types of correspondence
Qualifications

Medical Terminology (required)

Vital Signs (Required)

Current BLS Certification (Required)

Experience utilizing an EMR system (required)

One or more years of experience in an outpatient clinical or medical practice (preferred)

Experience Collecting lab Specimens (preferred)

Phlebotomy (Preferred)

Internship or Externship as a Medical Student (Preferred)

Current Certification from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or (RMA) Certification, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (preferred)
Education and Certifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate degree or higher a plus.
