In Operating Room at Main Campus Children's of Alabama
Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Shift, Monday-Friday, 6:45am-3:15pm, with call.
Summary:
The Endoscopy Technician will perform cleaning, high level disinfection, storage and maintain all records on the endoscopes utilized for patient care at CoA. They will maintain the endoscope processing lab and the environment of care related to these processes. They will do so by following all regulations and policies recognized and followed by CoA. When not working in the endoscopic area, the Endoscopy Technician will perform as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) by transporting: patients, specimens, blood, instruments, and help with housekeeping duties. They will perform any duties as necessary.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) defines an operating room (OR) as a place of service specifically equipped and staffed for the sole purpose of performing surgical procedures. At Children’s of Alabama, we are a Level 1 Trauma center providing a full-service operating room that provides surgical procedures in the following services: Orthopedics, Otolaryngology (ENT), Urology, Neurosurgery, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Dental, Gynecology, Pulmonary and Transplant Surgery-livers and kidneys. An operating room experience is the epitome of teamwork. With at least one Surgeon, one Anesthesiologist, one Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), one Circulating Nurse and one Scrub Nurse or Certified Scrub Technician taking care of one patient at a time. Providing surgical care in a sterile environment. Since Children’s of Alabama is a teaching institution, you may also have residents, fellows, and physician assistants in addition to the already mentioned team members.
