Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team at Florence School District Three as a full-time Middle Level Science Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the wonders of science, foster critical thinking, and promote a love for learning in a dynamic classroom environment. The teacher will be responsible for developing engaging lesson plans, implementing effective teaching strategies, and assessing student progress to ensure academic success.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and resources to engage students in hands-on learning experiences.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback and support.
- Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills through inquiry-based learning and scientific exploration.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate science with other subject areas and enhance the overall educational experience.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in science education.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance data.
- Uphold school policies and contribute to a positive school culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Middle Level Science for the state of South Carolina.
- Strong knowledge of middle school science curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Proficiency in using technology and digital resources to enhance learning.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to fostering a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Previous teaching experience at the middle school level is preferred but not required.
