Youth Development Aide (Part-Time)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3-9pm (Various Shifts Available) Fridays 6-9pm are teen nights
SUMMARY
A Teen Development Aide at Sarah Heinz House plays a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for youth in 6th through 12th grade. Staff members serve in program areas that align with their interests and expertise, including STEAM, Healthy Choices & Fitness, Life Skills & Education, while supporting the overall success of teen programming. Through meaningful interactions, engaging activities, and positive mentorship, Teen Development Aides help members build confidence, develop new skills, and reach their full potential.
As positive adult role models, staff foster professional relationships with members, families, volunteers, coworkers, and the community. At Sarah Heinz House, all employees are held to the highest standards and are expected to uphold our mission of empowering youth to laugh, learn, and lead.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all members at all times.
- Plan and/or facilitate engaging programs for youth in 7th through 12th grade within assigned program areas, including STEAM, Healthy Choices & Fitness, Life Skills & Education.
- Inspire positive values and ethical behavior through teaching, discussion, and positive role modeling.
- Encourage participation and create an inclusive, welcoming environment for all members.
- Supervise members while maintaining appropriate behavior expectations.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of youth programming.
- Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming program spaces.
- Uphold the policies, procedures, and traditions of Sarah Heinz House.
- Attend required trainings and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent required (college coursework in education, recreation, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred).
- Experience working with children or youth in educational, recreational, or youth development settings required.
- Current CPR/AED/First Certification required (on the job training offered)

- FBI Fingerprint Registry Check
- PA Child Abuse Registry
- PA State Criminal Background Check
- National Sex Offender Registry
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
