Summary:
The Stainless-Steel Polisher is responsible for polishing, finishing, and restoring stainless steel components to meet quality and aesthetic standards. This role requires attention to detail, experience with polishing tools and materials, and the ability to achieve a high-quality finish on marine or industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Polish stainless steel components using hand tools, power tools, and polishing equipment
- Grind, buff, and finish metal surfaces to required specifications
- Remove scratches, weld marks, and surface imperfections
- Ensure consistent high-quality finishes, including mirror and brushed finishes
- Inspect work before moving to the next stage of the body process
- Inspect finished products for quality and compliance with standards
- Work as a team with all other areas of the Paint and Body shop
- Assist, when required, with other paint and body production tasks
- Assist, when required, with the final assembly of products
- Maintain and clean polishing tools and work area
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work closely with fabrication and welding teams to meet production timelines
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in metal polishing, preferably stainless steel
- Knowledge of polishing compounds, abrasives, and finishing techniques
- Ability to read and interpret basic drawings or work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to lift and handle materials as required
- Reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in marine or manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with mirror finish and cosmetic-grade polishing
Work Environment:
- Shop/production floor environment
- Exposure to noise, dust, and polishing compounds
- Standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hands/tools
