Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Drupal/CMS Technical Lead to support large-scale digital platform, website modernization, and enterprise technology projects. This role will lead technical planning, CMS architecture, configuration, development oversight, integrations, and delivery support for complex public- and private-sector engagements.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Drupal, WordPress, or enterprise CMS platforms and can guide developers, collaborate with UX/UI teams, and ensure solutions are scalable, accessible, secure, and maintainable.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of Drupal-based CMS solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and technical standards.
- Oversee Drupal, WordPress, or enterprise CMS builds, migrations, integrations, and enhancements.
- Translate business, content, UX, accessibility, and technical requirements into practical implementation plans.
- Guide developers on coding standards, module/plugin selection, workflows, templates, permissions, and content models.
- Coordinate with UX/UI designers, content strategists, QA testers, project managers, and client stakeholders.
- Support technical documentation, release planning, deployment readiness, and post-launch stabilization.
- Identify risks, dependencies, performance issues, accessibility concerns, and technical constraints early.
- Ensure solutions follow best practices for security, scalability, usability, maintainability, and accessibility.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with Drupal, WordPress, CMS platforms, or enterprise web applications.
- Experience leading technical delivery on large-scale website, SaaS, portal, or enterprise platform projects.
- Strong understanding of CMS architecture, content types, templates, workflows, permissions, APIs, and integrations.
- Extensive knowledge of modern web development technologies including JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular), HTML/CSS, AJAX, JSON/XML data formats, and front-end/back-end integration techniques.
- Experience with Git, hosting environments, and deployment workflows.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards, including WCAG and Section 508.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile, hybrid, or structured project delivery environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Drupal 9/10, 11, WordPress, Acquia, Pantheon, or similar hosting platforms.
- Experience with government, higher education, nonprofit, enterprise, or regulated-sector projects.
- Familiarity with security, privacy, procurement, or compliance-driven environments.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra alongside traditional relational databases like MySQL or Oracle.
- Experience supporting large migrations, redesigns, or multi-site platform implementations.
- Strong understanding of system design principles for high availability, security best practices including identity & access management, and compliance standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills complemented by experience in requirements gathering, system analysis using UML diagrams such as use case diagrams or sequence diagrams.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies to facilitate iterative development cycles and continuous improvement processes.
