We are seeking an experienced, self-directed Welder/Fabricator to help get our fleet up to par as we bring on new trucks. Right now we have several fabrication projects lined up - building flatbeds, fabricating and repairing seal coating equipment, and a handful of miscellaneous welding projects. This is as-needed, outdoor fabrication work for someone who can be pointed at a project, told what the finished product needs to look like, and trusted to weld and fabricate it correctly with minimal supervision. It's an ideal fit for a skilled tradesperson who likes running their own work and doing their own thing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build flatbeds for trucks from the ground up - layout, cutting, fitting, and welding
- Fabricate, repair, and modify seal coating equipment and other fleet components
- Handle miscellaneous welding and fabrication projects as they come up
- Primary welding with MIG; TIG as needed for certain projects
- Cut and prep material using plasma and oxyacetylene
- Read and interpret drawings, measurements, and specs
- Fit, tack, weld, and finish to spec across a variety of materials
- Work independently, managing your own pace and quality
- Maintain safe, clean work practices and care for equipment
- Take direction and execute jobs with little hand-holding
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven welding and fabrication experience, primarily MIG welding
- Proficient with plasma and oxyacetylene cutting
- TIG welding ability a plus (used as needed)
- Experience building or fabricating truck beds, trailers, equipment, or similar steel structures
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to read measurements, drawings, and fabrication specs
- Comfortable performing physical work outdoors in varying weather
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
PREFERRED (A PLUS, NOT REQUIRED)
- Ability to paint/finish the metal after a project is complete
- Basic electrical/wiring skills - able to wire up lights and similar components
- TIG welding experience
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
This is not an entry-level position. Candidates without proven hands-on welding and fabrication experience will not be considered. Painting, wiring, and TIG are bonuses - but MIG welding and fabrication experience is a must.

- Part-time / as-needed work that fits an independent schedule
