Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor (2nd Shift)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor (2nd Shift) to lead and oversee a team of skilled maintenance technicians, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance support for plant operations. This role is responsible for maintaining the performance and reliability of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems supporting processing and packaging equipment within the RTE & Boxing departments.
The ideal candidate will provide strong leadership while promoting a culture of safety, quality, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement. This position also partners closely with Production, Engineering, and EHS teams to minimize downtime, maximize equipment performance, and maintain compliance with all food safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, train, coach, and motivate a team of maintenance technicians.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate department goals, expectations, and performance feedback.
- Promote accountability while ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment built on integrity, teamwork, transparency, service, and quality.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, vacations, floor coverage, performance evaluations, and employee development.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Promote and enforce a strong culture of workplace safety throughout all maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, USDA, HACCP, GMP, and company Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards.
- Enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, machine guarding, and other safety procedures.
- Investigate, document, and report workplace incidents in accordance with company policies.
- Partner with EHS personnel to support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
Maintenance Operations & Equipment Reliability
- Supervise daily maintenance activities for processing and packaging equipment.
- Plan, schedule, and assign preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation-related equipment issues.
- Support proper startup, operation, and shutdown of production equipment while maintaining food safety standards.
- Maintain maintenance inventory accuracy through daily parts requisitions and regular cycle counts.
Planning, Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
- Control maintenance costs through effective planning, scheduling, and inventory management.
- Maintain adequate spare parts inventory to support timely repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Assist with maintenance budgets, capital improvement projects, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, work orders, and equipment history within the CMMS.
- Analyze downtime, equipment failures, and maintenance trends to identify root causes and implement long-term improvements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and safety performance.
Core Competencies
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of food processing and packaging equipment maintenance.
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems.
- Understanding of 480-volt electrical distribution, low-voltage controls, automation systems, and industrial maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and electrical schematics.
Food Safety & Regulatory Knowledge
- Working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, USDA, and food safety regulations.
- Understanding of maintenance practices that support contamination prevention and equipment sanitation.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and industrial maintenance safety procedures.

Ideal Candidates
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Management, or a related field OR a minimum of 8 years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing or a comparable industrial environment.
- Certified Maintenance Management (CMM) certification.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Yellow Belt certification.
- Formal leadership training certification or at least 2 years of leadership experience.
Technical Experience
- Experience maintaining food processing and packaging equipment, including:
- Thermoformers
- Rotary equipment
- Tapers
- Banders
- Labeling machines
- Strong knowledge of:
- 480-volt electrical distribution
- Low-voltage electrical controls
- PLC systems
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Mechanical maintenance
- Experience with CMMS software, Microsoft Office, PLC software applications, technical documentation, budgeting, and maintenance planning.
- Willingness to complete training on ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Valid U.S. driver's license and reliable transportation.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
