About the Role
The Digital Banking and Payments Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight for Sunwest Bank’s digital banking and payments ecosystem. This role is responsible for managing Lockbox, Payment Operations, and Digital Banking functions, including Treasury Operations, while ensuring operational excellence, risk management, regulatory compliance, and high-quality client service. The position drives innovation, process improvement, and the adoption of digital banking and payment solutions that support the Bank’s strategic objectives.

What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute the vision for digital banking and payments aligned with Sunwest Bank’s strategic goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop managers and teams within Lockbox, Payment Operations,
and Digital Banking.
- Oversee Lockbox, Payment Operations, Digital Banking, and Treasury Operations
functions. • Champion the enhancement and evolution of digital banking services, online banking
platforms, payment processing technologies, and client-facing solutions.
- Design and implement risk management frameworks for payment processing activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and payment processing
controls.
- Optimize operational processes and controls to improve efficiency, reduce risk, minimize
losses, and enhance client service.
- Evaluate and manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality client experiences across digital banking and payment
channels.
- Lead the implementation of new technologies, processes, and solutions.
- Drive organizational change and support the adoption of digital services.
- Evaluate and consult on new products, services, and business verticals.
- Assess risks associated with new products, services, and business initiatives and
recommend appropriate risk management requirements.
- Collaborate with industry organizations to identify trends in fraud, scams, and mitigation
strategies.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations, payment network rules, bank partner
requirements, and industry best practices.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on payment processing and central operations activities.
- Develop subject matter expertise within the team.
- Partner with operations and line-of-business leaders to establish goals and objectives that
improve overall bank performance.
- Lead internal and external audits as required.
- Demonstrate professionalism in communication, attitude, and teamwork with internal
and external clients.
- Maintain high standards of work quality, attendance, and professional appearance.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support oversight of critical deposit and online banking back-office processing functions.
- Lead and develop a team of managers and approximately 30–35 support specialists.
- Foster a culture of ethical conduct, accountability, integrity, and organizational trust.
- Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
(Nice to Have)
- 10+ years of banking operations experience with expertise in digital banking, payment
systems (ACH, wire, card, and check), treasury management, and risk management.
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience managing multiple teams and functions.
- Advanced knowledge of digital banking platforms, payment processing technologies, and
core banking systems (Fiserv or similar).
- Demonstrated experience with regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and audit
management.
- Strong understanding of digital trends and industry best practices.
- Advanced written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Strong organizational, project management, and change leadership skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to proactively identify solutions and execute with
urgency.
- Ability to lead teams, generate enthusiasm, and promote a high-quality client service
culture.
- Ability to maintain awareness of and comply with applicable laws, regulations, internal
policies, procedures, the Bank Secrecy Act, and the Code of Ethics and Conduct.
