Job Summary
A private family in Wyckoff, NJ looking for a live-out nanny and family assistant to join our team. Mom works full-time in NYC in a demanding role. Dad also works in the city and at home - schedule varies week to week. We're organized, communicative, and low-drama. We're straightforward people and we expect the same in return. If we're a good fit for each other, this isn't a one year thing, it's a real, lasting relationship.
The Kids
We have three young boys ages 12, 10 and 4. All smart, athletic, well behaved and social. Older two in school full time (7th grade and 5th grade) followed by after school activities. Youngest in school part time (pre-K 4) - likely 9-12ish with possibly extending the day for lunch.
Schedule
- Full-time, Mon-Fri, approximately 48 hours per week.
- Schedule flexes by season depending on sports, practices, etc.
- Mix of scheduled activities and spontaneous adventures. Every day is a little different.
- Start date: August 10, 2026.
What You'll Do - Childcare
- Prepare light meals and snacks (sometimes breakfast, lunches, snacks).
- Plan and lead age-appropriate learning, creative play, and exploration activities.
- Get outside daily when weather permits, parks, walks, backyard time.
- Drive to and from activities, playdates, and errands (family car provided).
What You'll Do - Household & Family Assistant
- Household laundry (wash, fold, put away).
- General tidying and organization between professional housekeeping visits.
- Dishes and kitchen reset throughout the day.
- Take out trash and recycling.
- Run errands: grocery pickups, returns, miscellaneous to-dos.
- Make in-person or online purchases for the family as needed.
- Other tasks as requested.
Requirements
- This is a salaried position - on the books - do not apply if wanting to be paid off the books
- Extensive full-time experience with young children.
- Verifiable childcare references.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, we value transparency and proactive updates throughout the day.
- Self-directed and comfortable working independently.
- Up-to-date CPR certification.
- Willing to submit to a criminal background check.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for commuting (family car provided for all work-related driving).
- Willing to travel with the family as needed (maybe).
Benefits
- Pay: $31-$33/hour, commensurate with experience (~48 hours/week).
- Guaranteed hours: You're paid your full weekly hours even when the family doesn't need coverage.
- Paid vacation: 2 weeks per year at a minimum. Family travels regularly.
- Sick / personal days: 5 paid days per year.
- Paid holidays: 10 federal holidays.
- Family vehicle: Provided for all work-related driving.
- Compensation review: Pay and structure will be revisited annually
Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
