Position Overview:
Kaluzny Bros., Inc (KBI) is seeking to hire a Second Shift Production Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our rendering plant in Rockdale, IL. A successful Production Supervisor will provide hands-on, side-by-side leadership for all production activities emphasizing the priorities of safety, quality and efficiency to meet or exceed business objectives and customer expectations. This is not a desk position.
Second shift operates M-F from 3 PM - 11:30 PM with weekends required when scheduled, based on production needs.
KBI is a family-owned and operated rendering company comprised of two operations: a grease processing facility and a bone and fat processing plant. As a Production Supervisor, you will learn the operations of both facilities to manage the production employees of your designated shift while working directly with animal by-product (bones, hides, fat, and meat) in hot temperatures, with strong odors from the cooking process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Willing and able to be hands-on and work side-by-side with employees in our production to ensure the job gets done
- Maintain efficient and timely flow of all raw materials received, material processing, and the shipping of finished goods as outlined by the Plant Manager
- Drive accountability in the production environment through ongoing coaching and feedback and effective performance management
- Foster and demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills in their role and with their teams
- Direct sanitation efforts to keep equipment, plant and grounds in a safe and presentable condition
- Act as a first aid responder and available stand-in for the Unloader and Pressman when needed
- Maintain a positive, hands-on, constructive approach to leadership and the desire to continually learn and develop within their role as a supervisor
- Manage the training and development of all team members related to onboarding, safety, product processing, compliance, and annual performance reviews
- Promote an environment of continuous improvement and process adherence
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all employees and other support departments to best optimize production
- Willing and able to work overtime as needed based on production schedule
- Adheres to the principles of honesty, integrity, and respect in every aspect of their role

Minimum/Required Qualifications:
- A high school diploma, GED, or technical/trade school certificate, or 3+ years of working experience
- 2+ years of supervisory experience
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs on an occasional basis
- Experience with computer-based applications for basic business functions such as email, Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in liquid processing
- Experience operating a forklift
