Roebbelen is seeking a driven Project Engineer to join our Civic team and support public works construction projects throughout Northern California.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to do more than maintain project documents. You will work alongside experienced project leaders, support active construction operations, and build the knowledge needed to advance into project management. The right person is organized, dependable, eager to learn, and willing to go where the work takes them.
Project assignments may change as projects begin and conclude. This position will initially report to our El Dorado Hills office, with future assignments based on project and business needs. Candidates should be comfortable commuting or traveling to jobsites throughout Northern California.

Support the coordination, planning, and execution of construction activities to help projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with performance expectations.

Maintain and track RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, project correspondence, approvals, and other critical documentation.

Review contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to understand project requirements and identify potential discrepancies.

Coordinate information and communication among owners, architects, engineers, trade partners, vendors, field personnel, and project leadership.

Assist with project controls, document management, cost tracking, scheduling, and contract compliance.

Participate in project meetings, document decisions, and follow up on outstanding action items.

Support the tracking of contractor and consultant requirements related to safety, staffing, equipment, performance, and contractual obligations.

Assist with project closeout, including warranties, guarantees, completion documentation, and turnover requirements.

Use Procore and other construction technology platforms to maintain accurate and organized project information.

Build knowledge of construction means, methods, sequencing, and materials through hands-on project involvement.

Partner closely with field teams and serve as a safety ambassador without compromising Roebbelen’s safety standards.

Represent Roebbelen professionally and build respectful, productive relationships with project stakeholders.

Perform additional responsibilities based on project needs.

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business administration, or a related field preferred.

Candidates without a degree should have at least four years of construction-related experience involving project coordination, planning, or administrative support.

One to three years of Project Engineer or related commercial construction experience preferred.

Public works or civic construction experience is strongly preferred.

General understanding of construction documents, contracts, drawings, specifications, means, methods, and materials.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, SureTrak, Primavera P6, or similar construction systems is preferred.

Ability to work effectively in both office and active construction environments.

Willingness to commute or travel to project locations based on business needs.

Responsibilities are performed in both office and construction-site settings. Office work may require prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. Regular visits to active jobsites are required and involve the appropriate use of personal protective equipment.
