Position Overview
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to develop, commission, and support industrial control and automation solutions. The role focuses on creating robust PLC-based control logic, designing HMI interfaces, integrating robotics and field devices, and ensuring successful commissioning and troubleshooting at project sites. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering practices with hands-on controls and automation experience to deliver reliable, maintainable systems.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and document PLC control logic and software following industry standards and company templates.

Create intuitive and operator-friendly HMI screens and workflows to support safe and efficient operation.

Integrate robotics, motion control, and peripheral equipment into control systems, collaborating with mechanical and automation teams.

Develop and execute factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and support commissioning activities on site.

Troubleshoot control system issues during development, commissioning, and production, providing timely root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

Implement and verify safety-related control functions in accordance with applicable safety standards and machine directives.

Work with electrical designers to define I/O lists, wiring, network architecture, and field instrumentation requirements.

Follow version control, testing, and documentation best practices, including control system schematics, wiring diagrams, and software revision notes.

Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams, producing clear manuals and training materials.

Collaborate with project managers, system integrators, and customers to ensure solutions meet functional requirements, schedules, and budgets.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.

5+ years of hands-on experience developing PLC control software for industrial automation projects.

Proven experience with PLC platforms (e.g., Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) and programming languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagrams).

Experience designing and building HMI applications (e.g., FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Ignition, or equivalent).

Practical experience with robotics integration, motion control, and fieldbus/industrial network protocols (Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, OPC UA).

Strong troubleshooting and commissioning experience, including FAT/SAT execution and on-site problem resolution.

Familiarity with safety systems and standards (e.g., safety PLCs, safety relays, ISO 13849, IEC 61508) and implementing safety-related functions.

Excellent technical documentation, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to work cross-functionally and interact with customers on technical topics.

Willingness to travel to customer sites for commissioning and support as required.

Relevant certifications (optional): PLC vendor certification, Robotics programming certification, or similar industry credentials preferred.
