Studio Technician & Ceramics Assistant — Untamed Arts
Part-Time | Evenings & Weekends | 8 hours of internship weekly - 16-20 dollars thereafter
Untamed Arts is a growing pottery and mixed media art studio in Hackensack, NJ and we are looking for a hands-on, dependable, and passionate Studio Technician to help keep our studio running at its best. This is a behind-the-scenes and customer-facing role for someone who loves ceramics, takes pride in their work, and thrives in a creative, community-centered environment.
This work/studio internship requires 8 hours a week for full use of the studio, clay and glazes, as well as sitting in on classes. Those qualified to teach will be paid for teaching hours.
What You'll Do
- Load, unload, and fire bisque and glaze kilns and maintain accurate firing logs
- Manage clay inventory, glaze supplies, and reclaim systems
- Keep wheels, worktables, and studio spaces clean, organized, and ready for class
- Inspect, organize, and return finished pieces to students for pickup
- Support classes, birthday parties, camps, and special events as needed
- Assist customers with basic ceramics questions and studio navigation
- Communicate supply needs and maintenance issues to the studio owner
- Pitch in wherever the studio needs you

- Ability to multitask in a busy, fast-moving space
- Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Evening and weekend availability required
