Baker / Kitchen Production Team Member

Full-Time | 38+ Hours Per Week | $18.00–$21.00 per hour (based on experience)
The Baking Institute Bakery Co. is a growing wholesale bakery serving hotels, country clubs, restaurants, universities, and specialty retailers throughout the Chicago area.
We're looking for a dependable, hardworking Baker / Kitchen Production Team Member to join our production team.
This is not an entry-level position. While we're happy to train the right person on our recipes and production methods, applicants should have previous experience working in a commercial bakery, restaurant kitchen, catering operation, or food production environment.

Responsibilities
As part of our production team, you'll help prepare a wide variety of fresh bakery products, including:
- Cakes and cake components
- Cookies and bars
- Breakfast pastries
- Danish and croissants
- Muffins and quick breads
- Cheesecakes
- Seasonal and specialty desserts
Additional responsibilities include:
- Following recipes and production schedules
- Mixing, baking, assembling, and finishing products
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Assisting with packaging, labeling, and preparing products for delivery
- Carefully packing products you or the production team have prepared to ensure every order is accurate, secure, and delivery-ready
- Working together with the production team to meet daily production goals
- Following all food safety and sanitation procedures
Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in a commercial bakery, restaurant kitchen, catering kitchen, or food production facility
- Bakery experience is preferred, but we are happy to train candidates with strong commercial kitchen experience
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working as part of a team
Applicants without previous professional kitchen, bakery, or food production experience will not be considered.
Schedule
- Full-time (38+ hours per week)
- Sundays and Mondays off
- Overtime available during busy seasons
