MR Communications, LLC is a growing underground utility construction company specializing in horizontal directional drilling (HDD), fiber optic installation, conduit placement, and underground utility infrastructure. We are committed to safety, quality workmanship, and professionalism while delivering projects for telecommunications and utility providers.
We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and organized professional to join our team as a Directional Drill Field Coordinator / HDD Operations Specialist. This individual will play a key role in coordinating projects before excavation begins and ensuring all field operations are completed safely and efficiently.
Duties
- Submit and manage 811 utility locate requests.
- White-line proposed excavation and bore paths.
- Coordinate utility locates with municipalities and utility owners.
- Verify all utility markings before construction begins.
- Read and interpret construction plans, utility maps, and project drawings.
- Coordinate daily drilling operations with project managers and field crews.
- Maintain accurate bore logs, production reports, and project documentation.
- Complete daily job reports and field documentation.
- Conduct pre-job safety meetings.
- Communicate with inspectors, municipalities, contractors, and customers.
- Track project progress and report field issues.
- Ensure crews comply with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Perform equipment inspections and maintain required records.
- Operate company vehicles and equipment as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of utility locations, site conditions, and field activities to support project documentation and compliance.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed on-site, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to industry standards.
Requirements
Required:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift 75 pounds
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
- Willingness to learn new skills and follow company procedures
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience in underground utility construction
- Experience with Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
- Experience with fiber optic construction
- Experience submitting 811 utility locate tickets
- Experience white-lining job sites
- Experience reading construction plans and utility maps
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience operating Vermeer or Ditch Witch equipment
- Experience supervising crews
- Class A CDL preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Knowledge of utility locating procedures
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Willingness to travel to project sites
- Knowledge of underground utilities including gas lines, electrical cables, water pipes, and telecommunications infrastructure.

Pay: From $300.00 per day
