Position Summary
The Dental Hygienist will play a vital role in promoting oral health through preventive care, patient education, periodontal therapy, and collaboration with our doctors and clinical team. The ideal candidate is gentle, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping patients feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout their dental visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental hygiene procedures, including prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, scaling, and root planing.
- Conduct oral health assessments and periodontal charting.
- Take and review digital radiographs.
- Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive therapies.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive care, and treatment recommendations.
- Identify and communicate oral health concerns to the dentist.
- Maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation.
- Support treatment acceptance through patient education and relationship-building.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and sterilization protocols.
- Create a positive, welcoming experience for patients of all ages, including those with dental anxiety.
Qualifications
Required
- Current Illinois Dental Hygienist license in good standing.
- Local Anesthesia certification (preferred if applicable).
- Proficiency with digital radiography and electronic dental records.
Preferred
- Experience with periodontal therapy and patient education.
- Familiarity with cosmetic and comprehensive dental treatment planning.
