Full-Time | $18–$26 per hour, depending on experience
KG Landworx is seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator / Construction Laborer to join our growing field team.
This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable operating construction equipment but also understands that working for a small construction company means everyone helps get the job done.
This is NOT an equipment-only position.
Our operators are expected to get out of the machine and perform physical construction work when equipment operation is not needed.
Equipment You May Operate
Depending on experience and demonstrated ability:
- Compact track loaders / skid steers
- Mini excavators and excavators
- Compact tractors
- Rollers and compaction equipment
- Specialized mowing and land-management equipment
- Other construction equipment as needed
Applicants should have previous equipment operating experience. Additional training will be provided on company-specific equipment and procedures.
Types of Work We Perform
Our projects vary considerably from week to week and may include:
- Grading and excavation
- Drainage and stormwater work
- Site preparation
- Retaining walls and hardscaping
- Septic installation and repair
- Pond construction and maintenance
- Erosion-control work
- Land clearing and vegetation management
- Landscaping and site restoration
- Gravel and aggregate installation
We are looking for someone who enjoys variety and is willing to work wherever needed to complete the project.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate assigned construction equipment
- Perform rough and finish grading appropriate to experience level
- Excavate trenches and work around existing utilities
- Load trucks and move materials efficiently
- Assist with drainage and pipe installation
- Perform daily equipment inspections
- Grease, clean and properly care for equipment
- Identify and report equipment problems before they become major repairs
- Perform hand grading, shoveling, raking and other physical construction work
- Assist with loading and unloading tools and materials
- Maintain clean and organized jobsites
- Follow instructions from the foreman and project management
- Work safely around employees, customers, utilities and property
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate:
- Has previous heavy-equipment operating experience
- Is dependable and consistently arrives on time
- Can work independently when given a task
- Understands basic grading and excavation practices
- Is comfortable performing physical labor when necessary
- Takes pride in equipment and treats company property responsibly
- Works well as part of a small crew
- Can follow grades, measurements and jobsite instructions
- Has a positive attitude and can remain productive during difficult jobs
- Is interested in learning additional equipment and construction skills
Experience with drainage, utilities, septic systems, retaining walls, grading or site development is strongly preferred.
This Position Requires Physical Work
We want applicants to understand the position before applying.
You will not spend every day sitting in a machine.
Some days may involve significant equipment operation. Other days may require several hours of shoveling, raking, installing pipe, building walls, spreading material or completing other construction tasks by hand.
Our crews work outside throughout the year in heat, cold, mud, dust and other normal construction conditions.
Everyone on our crew contributes to completing the project.
Pay & Advancement
$18–$26 per hour, depending on experience, equipment proficiency and construction knowledge.
Higher starting compensation within the range is reserved for applicants who can demonstrate strong operating ability and require minimal supervision.
Employees who demonstrate leadership, strong production, reliability and the ability to manage work independently may have opportunities to advance into Lead Operator or Foreman positions as the company grows.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Previous construction equipment operating experience
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work
- Ability to safely lift and handle construction materials and tools
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to complete the company's normal employment-verification process
CDL experience, trailer experience and additional construction certifications are a plus but are not required.

KG Landworx is a Fort Mill, South Carolina-based grading, excavation and land-services contractor.
We perform grading, excavation, drainage, retaining walls, erosion control, pond work, septic/sitework, land management and landscaping throughout the surrounding area.
