Job Summary
Directs all production-related operations for the Diamond Tool Division by performing the following duties personally or through production supervisors and lead employees.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
¨ Coordinates and leads production operations for the Diamond Tool Division in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the Director of Operations
¨ Initiates plans and/or processes to lower manufacturing cost through effective use of staffing, materials, facilities, and capital to ensure profitable operation
¨ Assures attainment of Diamond Products business objectives and production schedules
¨ Implements product standards that will exceed customer expectations
¨ Executes the overall plant manufacturing strategy for the Diamond Tool division set forth by Director of Operations
¨ Closely monitors factory output levels and develops / implements continuous improvement initiatives in productivity, including partnering with other departments to support improvement initiatives
¨ Partners with Director of Operations related to expense budgeting for the Diamond Tool factory
¨ Manages budget in relation to production volume
¨ Provides leadership and coaching / development to supervisors and lead employee personnel
¨ Ensures the participation of management team and employees in required training and safety meetings
¨ Ensures that a high standard of housekeeping is met
¨ Responsible for coordinating supervisory scheduling, shift coverage, and the management of overtime requirements as needed within the Diamond Tool division
¨ Works closely with Health & Safety, Engineering, I.T., Supply Chain, Accounting, Customer Service, and Human Resources to accomplish common goals
¨ Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Diamond Tool production area, including direct supervision of 6 supervisors and indirect oversight of their subordinates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training supervisors / employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education/Experience/Requirements
¨ Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and five (5) or more years related experience at a supervisory level or equivalent combination of education and experience
¨ Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
¨ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to clearly and effectively communicate expectations, results, plans, etc
¨ Intermediate computer skills – experienced in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
¨ Ability to inspire, motivate, and support staff as needed
