Position Summary
Low Country Quisine is seeking a Prep Lead Cook to support the Kitchen Supervisor in daily production and kitchen organization. This role is ideal for a cook with 2 to 3 years of experience who is ready to take the next step in their growth.
The Prep Lead Cook will assist with prep planning, actively work in production alongside the team, support inventory management, and help maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in a high-volume catering environment.
This position is for someone who wants to grow, take on responsibility, and develop into a leadership role in the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Prep Support
- Support the Kitchen Supervisor in organizing and creating daily prep lists
- Ensure prep tasks are clearly assigned and completed on time
- Prepare and cook alongside the team
- Help maintain smooth kitchen flow and keep production on schedule
Inventory & Organization
- Assist with inventory control and notify leadership when items are low
- Receive and properly store deliveries
- Ensure all products are labeled, dated, and rotated correctly (FIFO)
- Maintain organized storage areas (dry storage, refrigeration, and freezer)
Cleanliness & Food Safety
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen throughout the shift
- Follow all food safety guidelines
- Assist with daily cleaning and kitchen closing procedures
- Comply with all health and safety standards
Team Support & Training
- Communicate clearly with the Kitchen Supervisor and team
- Help keep the team focused and working efficiently
- Assist in training new employees and developing team members
- Model strong work habits, organization, and cleanliness
- Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment

Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a professional kitchen (preferably catering or high-volume)
- Basic knowledge of cooking and kitchen operations
- Basic understanding of food safety
- Must have a Food Protection Manager certification or be willing to obtain it
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, proactive, and eager to learn
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a high-volume kitchen environment
