American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in an LTAC unit, requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

Work in the LTAC Med/Surg unit of an acute care hospital
-
10-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
-
Care for patients with respiratory failure, post-surgical needs, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac conditions
-
Perform PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/midline usage and care, and tracheostomy patient care
-
Titrate drips including Heparin
-
RT staff manages all respiratory equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow); RNs troubleshoot only
-
Housewide tele packs monitored by a dedicated Monitor Tech stationed in the ICU
-
House Supervisor available 24/7
-
Nurse aides/PCTs available at a 1:10 ratio

Uses EPIC EMR
-
12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
-
Weekend rotation required every other weekend plus additional shifts as needed

Holiday rotation required plus additional shifts as needed

Qualified Med/Surg RNs may float to ICU and occasionally to Acute Rehab
-
No current call or standby requirement, though subject to change
-
Active IL RN license required
-
BLS (AHA) certification required
-
ACLS certification preferred but not required
-
Minimum 1 year of experience required
-
BSN not required
-
Experience with PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/midline care, and tracheostomy patients required

Experience titrating drips required
-
Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels as part of a Drug-Free Campus policy
-
Provide direct patient care within an LTAC Med/Surg unit including monitoring, drip titration, and wound/tube care

Classroom orientation per facility policy plus 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor
-
Scrubs required in any color; only facility-approved t-shirts permitted
-
COVID vaccination is not required for consideration
-
Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local pay rate

No radius restriction limiting eligibility for the position
