Position Description
Longview School is seeking a dynamic Science Teacher to provide instruction to adolescents within our therapeutic community. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality science instruction while fostering a supportive and engaging classroom environment. This role requires a unique blend of academic expertise, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to adventure-based learning.
Key Responsibilities
● Instruction and Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans covering all required science content areas aligned with state standards.
● Relationship Building: Utilize strong interpersonal skills to build meaningful, therapeutic relationships with students.
● Experiential Learning: Design and lead hands-on, experiential activities that bring science to life for diverse learners.
● Adventure-Based Learning: Collaborate with a small team to plan and participate in weekly adventure-based learning activities.
● Student Support: Implement alternative instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with varying educational disabilities.
Qualifications and Requirements
● Certification: NH Teaching Credential or State of Eligibility
● Curriculum Knowledge: Familiarity with state standards.
● Special Education Expertise: Knowledge of special education practices, learning disabilities, and emotional/behavioral/mental health needs.
● Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Suite and other educational technologies.
● Communication: Strong organizational skills paired with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
● Outdoor Passion: A passion for the outdoors and adventure-based learning is highly preferred.
