American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC (Intermediate Care) travel position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring active IL licensure and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

13-week travel assignment in the IMC (Intermediate Care/Step-Down) unit of a 562-bed acute care hospital

Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility
-
Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
-
Every other weekend required
-
Average daily census of 38 patients
-
Floating required to like units within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
-
No on-call requirements
-
Charting system: Cerner (experience required)
-
Patient population includes cardiac, surgical, neurological, renal, and respiratory cases
-
Required cardiac monitoring skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry on-unit monitoring, and remote telemetry monitoring
-
Required cardiovascular case experience: post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band
-
Required IV therapy skills: accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
-
Required medication skills: heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management (including titration), and PCA
-
Required respiratory skills: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen, and non-invasive airway management

Additional required skills: feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, CVA management, surgical drain care, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions

Local candidates are accepted with no radius requirement

Active IL RN license required at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted

Current AHA or Red Cross BLS and ACLS certifications required (RQI AHA cards not accepted)

Minimum 2 years of experience in MS/Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Step-Down required

Cerner EMR experience required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Teaching hospital experience preferred

Level I Trauma experience preferred

Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; anything beyond 5 days requires facility approval

Block schedule requests may be discussed with the manager

Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
