Duties
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, art therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA) to address emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and case management to develop tailored treatment plans aligned with each client’s unique circumstances.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to de-escalate situations effectively while ensuring safety for clients and staff.
- Engage in home and community visits to provide ongoing support, monitor progress, and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to safeguard confidentiality.
- Collaborate with families, schools, and community agencies to coordinate care plans that promote positive outcomes for children with disabilities or developmental delays.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to foster engagement and motivate clients toward behavioral change while managing conflicts professionally.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children, individuals with developmental disabilities, or behavioral health populations in home or community settings.
- Strong background in social work, mental health counseling, or related fields with familiarity in crisis management and crisis intervention practices.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical documentation standards, and the use of electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Hands-on experience applying therapeutic interventions such as applied behavior analysis (ABA), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), PTSD care strategies, and case management approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflict effectively while maintaining a positive rapport with clients and their families.
- Familiarity with special education processes and working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is highly desirable.
- Certification as a QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional) or equivalent qualification is required; additional certifications in addiction counseling or crisis management are a plus.
