$34–$40/hour + shift differentials

Prairie View is currently seeking Full-Time and Part-Time Registered Nurses to join our Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) and Behaviorial Urgent Care (BUC) team. This role is ideal for nurses who are passionate about behavioral health and want to work in a structured, therapeutic residential setting supporting patient stability, safety, and long-term treatment goals.

Key responsibilities include:
Delivering nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation)
Administering and monitoring medications, including patient education on use and side effects
Monitoring patient status and responding to changes in condition
Responding to urgent or crisis situations within the residential setting
Communicating with prescribers regarding orders, refills, and clinical updates
Collaborating with treatment teams, patients, and families
Supporting admissions, transfers, and continuity of care
Maintaining timely, accurate clinical documentation
Upholding patient confidentiality and professional nursing standards

Minimum Education: Graduate from accredited program of nursing education; BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree preferred but not required; current Registered Nurse license with Kansas State Board of Nursing required

Minimum Experience: Two years in psychiatric nursing preferred

Must maintain Kansas State licensure and appropriate CEUs
- Must remain current with CPR license

Must remain current with CPI training

Must have good command of the English language; must be able to read, communicate clearly and therapeutically with patients and staff, both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner

Must have the ability to quickly access data, assimilate printed and electronic information, make decisions and judgements in emergent situations, and respond appropriately.

Must be able to observe and interact in a positive, nonjudgmental, nonreactive manner with patients, family members, patient caregivers, and staff

Must be able to observe patient demeanor and nonverbal communication for assessment purposes

Must have knowledge about medications and their side effects, or at least the ability to obtain the information quickly.
- Must be self directed and able to work independently

Must be willing to have some flexibility in scheduling, to meet patient and organization needs

Must be able to stand (agile) and to sit at a desk for periods of up to two hours

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Must be able to kneel, bend, squat, and hold on to a person, in order to restrain an out of control patient

Must be able to communicate effectively with referral sources and other treatment providers

Must be proficient at basic keyboarding / word processing skills

Must be able to pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen, the Central Registry Screen for both adults and children, as well as the DCF (Kansas Department for Children & Families) background check
