American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a night shift position requiring NIHSS certification and prior neuro or med surg acute care experience.

Work in the Medical Surgical - Neuro unit of a short term acute care teaching hospital
-
Patient ratio of 1:4
-
Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
-
Every other weekend required
-
On-call required, must remain available if a shift is cancelled
-
Floating to other units and sister facilities required based on skill set
-
Uses Epic charting system
-
Active RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand
-
OR license required, may submit with license pending unless otherwise specified
-
Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
-
2 years of med surg or neurovascular acute care experience preferred
-
Proficient neuro skills required, all skills must be rated 3s or 4s
-
Epic charting experience required
-
Skills needed include neurological/psychiatric care, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury care
-
Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, non-invasive airway management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, and cardiac monitoring required

Must have a personal vehicle for this assignment

Provide medical surgical and neurological nursing care including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury patients

Utilize rapid response and code teams for emergency situations
-
Scrub color is any color for general units; OR/Cath Lab scrubs are facility-provided
-
No parking fee at this facility

Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
