Utility Systems & Solutions – Green Technology Overview:
The Green Technology Systems & Solutions group within Siemens Utility Technologies is dedicated to accelerating the energy transition by delivering grid-scale photovoltaic solutions that integrate seamlessly into utility and community solar infrastructure. Our portfolio includes three-phase string inverters using virtual central architectures as well as large central inverter systems, supported by comprehensive control, protection, and integration solutions. By combining Siemens’ power systems expertise with strong project execution, we deliver turnkey PV solutions that reduce integration risk, accelerate deployment timelines, and support customers’ decarbonization goals.
We're seeking a Proposal Engineer to join our Greentech engineering group focusing on the PV Inverter Commercial and Proposals team. This role is based out of Wendell, NC.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Developing and delivering high-quality proposals for central and string inverter, community solar, and repower projects with strong commercial discipline, clarity, and consistency
- Serve as the commercial backbone for all proposals in our central inverter and string inverter portfolios.
- Owning and continuously improving proposal templates, including scope language, technical exhibits, and commercial terms aligned to defined responsibilities
- Standardizing proposal processes across product lines to create scalable, repeatable solutions while clearly defining scope and preventing scope creep
- Preparing and reviewing bills of material, technical specifications, and documentation to support accurate pricing, scope definition, and risk evaluation
- Managing opportunity and proposal data to provide real-time visibility into deal status, pricing, margins, schedules, and risk factors
- Partnering with sales and business development to support opportunity qualification, proposal strategy, and commercial alignment
- Supporting procurement planning and supply chain coordination, including purchase requisitions aligned to project timelines and probability
- Leading structured risk reviews, documenting risks and mitigation plans, and ensuring proposals are released with clear technical and commercial alignment
- Building and maintaining project schedules, establishing proposal standards, and driving process improvements that enhance accuracy, reduce cycle time, and improve margins
- Serving as a key cross-functional partner across sales, engineering, and operations, ensuring smooth handoffs, strong commercial positioning, and continuous improvement of proposal quality
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
