Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to standardized recipes and menu specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, stoves, ovens, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to strict sanitation and safety standards in food handling and preparation
- Assist with meal preparation for various service periods, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts
- Support menu planning efforts by preparing ingredients in advance and suggesting improvements based on kitchen needs
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of orders
- Follow food safety management protocols to prevent cross-contamination and ensure compliance with health regulations
Skills
- Proven experience in food service or restaurant environments with strong culinary skills
- Knowledge of dietary department procedures and dietary aide experience preferred
- Excellent knife skills with slicing technique expertise for efficient ingredient preparation
- Familiarity with food safety standards in production, handling, and storage practices
- Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining consistency in meal quality
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with kitchen team members
- Experience operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of menu planning, food industry trends, and catering experience is a plus
- Ability to work quickly under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in food presentation and safety standards
