Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and personable Leasing Consultant to join our property management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing leasing activities, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations including LIHTC, Fair Housing, and Section 8. The Leasing Consultant will serve as the primary point of contact for prospective tenants and current residents, fostering positive relationships and facilitating lease agreements.
Duties
- Greet prospective tenants and conduct property tours, highlighting features and amenities
- Manage leasing processes using Yardi, OneSite, and other property management software
- Prepare and review lease contracts, ensuring compliance with legal standards including landlord-tenant law and Fair Housing regulations
- Process applications, verify tenant information, and conduct background checks in accordance with company policies
- Handle inquiries regarding Section 8, LIHTC programs, and other subsidized housing options
- Upsell available units and community amenities to prospective residents through effective sales techniques
- Maintain accurate data entry, filing systems, and tenant records in compliance with data security standards
- Assist with rent collection, lease renewals, and move-in/move-out procedures
- Coordinate with maintenance teams regarding property upkeep and repairs using CMMS or facilities management tools
- Resolve conflicts or tenant concerns professionally while maintaining positive relationships
- Ensure office operations run smoothly by managing phone etiquette, customer relationship management (CRM), and administrative tasks such as filing and document management
Skills
- Strong knowledge of LIHTC, Section 8, Fair Housing regulations, and landlord-tenant law
- Proficiency in property management software including Yardi, OneSite, and CMMS systems
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle conflict management effectively
- Experience in sales, upselling, negotiation, contracts, and legal administrative procedures
- Background in real estate administrative experience or property leasing preferred
- Office experience with data entry, filing, phone etiquette, and administrative support skills
- Familiarity with property maintenance coordination and facilities management practices
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written; ability to build rapport with diverse client base
