American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.

Work in the Emergency Department of a 457-bed Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital that is also a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence

Patient population includes trauma (GSW, stabbings, MVA, falls), stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, cardiac cath pre-procedure, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, mental health, respiratory illnesses, GI disorders, liver failure, AKI/CKD, and patients requiring fluid resuscitation or blood products

Max RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5, acuity dependent

12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

Floating required to all facilities within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) — candidates unwilling to float should not apply

No on-call responsibilities for travelers

IV Pump: Alaris | Med Dispensing: Omnicell | Monitors: Philips

Active NC or compact RN license required

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI

TNCC preferred

Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Trauma and stroke experience required
-
Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, and blood administration
-
Epic EMR experience
-
Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Department support includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, 24/7 Charge Nurse, IV/VAT Team, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, 24/7 Hospitalist, and ED Physicians

Orientation includes general hospital new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
-
Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
-
Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; additional time may be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met

Navy scrubs required

Candidate's permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

Must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
