Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, ovens, stoves, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and cooking areas to meet food safety standards
- Assist in meal preparation for various service types, including catering events and regular restaurant service
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and quality in every dish served
- Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and prep needs
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks, ensure timely service, and uphold high standards of food presentation
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Proven food service or restaurant experience demonstrating knowledge of food preparation and safety standards
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques and ingredient portioning
- Familiarity with operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and correctly
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and adherence to hygiene protocols
- Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining flexibility during busy service times
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork within the kitchen environment
