Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter to join our construction and renovation team. The ideal candidate will have experience in residential, commercial, and industrial painting projects, with a strong understanding of various painting techniques, surface preparation, and finishing processes. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing a wide range of skills including blueprint reading, plastering, caulking, and the use of power tools. Candidates with handyman experience, carpentry skills, and construction site familiarity are highly encouraged to apply. The position requires a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, patching holes, and applying primer as needed
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, or other finishes using brushes, rollers, airless paint sprayers, or other equipment
- Perform surface preparation tasks such as caulking, plastering, and drywall finishing
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to determine project requirements
- Install fixtures, trim carpentry elements, and perform restoration or remodeling work as required
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for various tasks including framing, masonry work, or fixture installation
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and adheres to safety regulations on-site
- Collaborate with project managers and other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within scope
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of residential and commercial painting techniques including industrial painting and airless spray systems
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics accurately for precise application of finishes
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as caulking guns, putty knives, brushes, rollers, and power tools including saws and sanders
- Strong understanding of construction estimating principles for material usage and project timelines
- Familiarity with surface preparation methods like plastering, stucco application, concrete finishing, masonry work, and restoration processes
- Knowledge of color theory for selecting appropriate paints and finishes for various environments
- Experience with renovation projects involving drywall repair, fixture installation, framing carpentry, trim carpentry, or remodeling
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations during project planning
- Handyman experience is a plus for versatile task execution across multiple trades
