Position Overview
The Town of Jackson is seeking a dependable, hardworking Maintenance Worker to support the upkeep of town facilities, streets, parks, and public spaces. The ideal candidate is motivated, safety‑minded, and committed to serving the community. This position involves manual labor, routine maintenance, and operation of equipment in a variety of outdoor conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair of town buildings, parks, and public facilities
- Assist with street, drainage, and sidewalk maintenance
- Mow, trim, and maintain public grounds and rights‑of‑way
- Operate light and medium‑duty equipment such as mowers, tractors, and utility vehicles
- Perform basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and custodial tasks
- Support seasonal operations including storm preparation and cleanup
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain equipment properly
- Assist other town departments as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license required
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and general maintenance practices
- Experience in maintenance, construction, or groundskeeping preferred
- Must be able to pass a drug screening
