Position Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and experienced CDL Class A Truck Driver to join our underground utilities construction team. The CDL Driver will be responsible for safely operating 18-wheelers, lowboys, flatbeds, dump trailers, and other commercial vehicles to transport heavy equipment, materials, and tools to and from construction job sites.
The ideal candidate will have experience hauling heavy construction equipment and operating in construction and job site environments while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safely operate CDL Class A commercial vehicles including 18-wheelers, lowboys, flatbeds, and dump trailers
- Transport heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, backhoes, trenchers, loaders, and construction materials to job sites
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers
- Properly secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and tie-downs in accordance with DOT regulations
- Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, fuel receipts, and delivery documentation
- Coordinate delivery schedules with field supervisors, dispatch, and management
- Ensure safe loading and unloading of equipment and materials
- Assist with loading equipment onto trailers when needed
- Monitor vehicle condition and report maintenance or repair needs immediately
- Follow all company safety procedures and DOT regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned trucks and trailers
- Assist field crews and equipment operators as needed
- Travel to multiple job sites throughout the workweek
Qualifications:
- Valid CDL Class A license required
- Clean driving record required
- Current DOT medical card required
- Minimum of 3 years of commercial driving experience preferred
- Experience hauling heavy construction equipment required
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, load securement, and oversized load procedures
- Experience operating lowboy trailers and hauling heavy machinery preferred
- Ability to safely back trailers and maneuver in construction site environments
- Forklift and heavy equipment operating experience is a plus
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekends as needed
- MUST pass a background and drug test
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to climb on and off trailers and equipment safely
- Ability to secure loads using chains, binders, and straps
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and perform physical labor when necessary
