Job Description:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support the successful execution of structural steel, miscellaneous metals, stairs, joists, decking, and field installation projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction coordination, be able to read and understand project drawings, and be comfortable working closely with project managers, fabricators, vendors, subcontractors, installers, engineers, and clients.
This role is critical in keeping projects organized, moving, and properly documented from estimating handoff through fabrication, delivery, installation, and closeout.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate structural steel projects from award through completion under the direction of the Project Manager.
Assist with project setup, scheduling, procurement tracking, fabrication coordination, delivery planning, and field installation support.
Read and interpret structural and architectural plans, shop drawings, erection drawings, and related construction documents.
Track and organize RFIs, submittals, shop drawing approvals, engineering comments, revisions, and change orders.
Communicate with clients, general contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, subcontractors, and field crews to keep projects moving.
Coordinate material orders, vendor quotes, purchase orders, delivery dates, and required project documentation.
Assist in reviewing project scopes, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
Help identify missing information, scope gaps, conflicts, and field issues before they delay the project.
Maintain project files, logs, schedules, meeting notes, and correspondence in an organized and accurate manner.
Support fabrication and installation teams by ensuring they have the latest approved drawings, details, and project information.
Assist with coordinating stairs, railings, miscellaneous metals, joists, metal decking, RTU framing, structural steel, and existing building modifications.
Attend internal project meetings and, when needed, onsite meetings with clients, contractors, or field teams.
Follow up consistently on outstanding items, approvals, material lead times, and project deadlines.
Work closely with estimating, drafting, fabrication, purchasing, and field operations to ensure smooth project execution.
Requirements:
Minimum 2–4 years of experience in construction coordination, project coordination, or a related role.
Experience in the structural steel, miscellaneous metals, or construction industry is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of or willingness to learn:
Commercial and residential structural steel fabrication
Stairs and miscellaneous metals
Joists and metal decking
RTU framing
Existing building modifications
Shop drawings, erection drawings, and field coordination
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, structural plans, architectural plans, and project specifications.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active projects at the same time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to follow up consistently and keep detailed records of project activity.
Comfortable coordinating with clients, vendors, subcontractors, fabricators, and installers.
Ability to identify problems, ask the right questions, and help keep projects on schedule.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, PDF mark-up tools, and basic project management software.
Bluebeam, or drawing mark-up experience is a plus.
Ability to travel locally to job sites if needed.
