We’re looking for individuals who can confidently guide guests through the menu, recommend wine and cocktail pairings, create memorable experiences, and help drive restaurant sales through genuine hospitality and exceptional service.
This position reports directly to the Food & Beverage Manager.
What You'll Do
As an Evening Restaurant Server, you will create exceptional dining experiences by providing warm, knowledgeable, and attentive service from the moment guests arrive until they leave.
Responsibilities include:
- Welcome and engage guests with genuine hospitality.
- Guide guests through the menu while making thoughtful food, wine, beer, and cocktail recommendations.
- Build guest confidence through menu and beverage knowledge.
- Accurately enter food and beverage orders into the POS system.
- Deliver food and beverages promptly while ensuring presentation meets company standards.
- Anticipate guest needs by refilling beverages, clearing plates, and maintaining clean tables throughout service.
- Promote featured menu items, seasonal cocktails, premium wines, desserts, and after-dinner drinks.
- Create memorable experiences that encourage repeat visits and positive guest reviews.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all food, wine, beer, spirits, and cocktail offerings.
- Properly describe ingredients, preparation methods, allergens, and pairing suggestions.
- Collaborate with bartenders, cooks, hosts, and fellow servers to ensure seamless service.
- Prepare and maintain dining rooms before, during, and after service.
- Complete opening, running, and closing side work.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant.
- Process guest payments accurately while following cash handling procedures.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service regulations.
- Assist with private dining events, wine dinners, banquet functions, and special events as needed.
- Support inventory, stocking, polishing glassware, rolling silverware, and other operational tasks.
- Help create an atmosphere that reflects Lucas Bar & Grill's elevated dining experience.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of full-service restaurant serving experience preferred.
- Hotel restaurant experience preferred.
- Strong wine, beer, cocktail, and food knowledge preferred (or willingness to learn).
- Excellent communication and guest service skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and organized during busy service periods.
- Strong teamwork and positive attitude.
- Self-motivated with a sense of urgency.
- Basic computer and POS experience preferred.
- Responsible alcohol service certification (or ability to obtain).
- California Food Handler Card (or ability to obtain).
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
- Bend, reach, twist, and carry trays safely.
- Work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Safely transport food, beverages, and service equipment.
Availability
- Evening availability required.
- Typical shifts between 5:30 PM and 9:30 PM (business needs may vary).
- Weekend and holiday availability required.
- Flexible schedule based on business demands.
