A Value Stream Leader is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the value stream within a manufacturing process to ensure safety, quality, and delivery meet or exceed organizational and customer expectations. They play a critical role in driving lean principles, managing resources, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Safety

Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards across the team.

Conduct safety inspections and ensure proper use of machinery and protective equipment.

Ensure team compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

Ensure all production associate preventive maintenance activities are complied

Ensure all tools and gauges in the area are properly calibrated for associate use

Value Stream Management
-
Oversee the entire value stream, from raw materials to finished goods, ensuring alignment with business goals.

Analyze workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
-
Develop and implement strategies to optimize processes and reduce waste.
-
Leadership and Team Development
-
Responsible for the life cycle of employees within the value stream. Hire, onboard, coach, mentor, develop, exit employees if necessary.

Lead, mentor, and motivate a cross-functional team including production operators, engineers, and supervisors.
-
Ensure team alignment with company objectives, performance standards, and safety protocols.
-
Facilitate training and professional development for team members.

Operational Performance

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as safety, quality, productivity cost, and delivery.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies.

Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards.

Customer Focus

Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer needs and expectations.

Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products that meet customer specifications.
-
Address and resolve any quality or delivery issues proactively.
-
Have direct contact with customers to understand needs and ensure the voice of the customer is echoed throughout the value stream.

Resource Management

Manage labor, materials, and equipment to optimize production efficiency and cost.

Create and maintain production schedules to meet demand forecasts.
-
Oversee maintenance and reliability of equipment within the value stream.

Strategic Planning

Participate in developing and executing the manufacturing strategy.
-
Align value stream activities with company goals for growth, sustainability, and innovation.
-
Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
-
Understand and provide capital requests to improve the values steam KPI’s.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, or a related field.
-
5+ years of experience in manufacturing or operations management, with a focus on lean principles.
-
Strong leadership and team-building skills.
-
Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
-
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
-
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools.
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
