JOB Provides transportation to passengers along a designated route between the Colonial National Park Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Provides information to passengers regarding the many attractions along the route including but not limited to, operating hours and pricing of cruise ships, charters, tour bus, Colonial National Park Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center, American Revolution Museum at Yorktown and the many restaurants along the route.
Operate a trolley bus over established routes, provide transportation to passengers; points out various attractions along the route, and provide information about the attractions.
Assists passengers getting in and out of the trolley.
Inspects vehicle prior to daily operations for maintenance discrepancies.
Maintains the cleanliness of the trolley, both inside and outside.
Ability to operate various pieces of technology located on Trolley.
Refuels and performs common preventive maintenance checks such as checking fluid levels on oil and other fluids, as well as tire pressure on trolley daily.
Maintains a record log of passengers, mileage, fuel use, and any other related data as needed.
Reports vehicle maintenance problems to supervisor.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, and some experience driving vehicles ranging from 15-passenger vans to 50 passenger trolley buses used to transport passengers.
Requires a Commonwealth of Virginia Commercial Driver’s License with a minimum of Class B, and a P endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months from hire date.
Incumbent must be able to operate a vehicle with air brakes.
This job is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment checks to include criminal history, background and DMV record checks.
Prior experience as a school bus driver or public transit operator preferred.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Must be physically able to sit in and operate a 50-passenger Trolley bus. The job involves walking, standing, stooping, and bending while performing the pre-trip inspection, and when cleaning the trolley. Gripping of the steering wheel is essential while driving the Trolley. Some climbing is required up the steps into the Trolley. There is pushing and pulling of passengers in wheelchairs occasionally, and pushing and pulling while cleaning the equipment, and pushing of buttons on the passenger counter.
