School based Clinic Assistant: Performs clinic duties within the school setting to maintain student wellness and school clinic protocols.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains medication, communication, staff training, and error logs.
- Organizes and maintains documentation of student medication, inhalers, EPIS, diabetes care, according to established procedures.
- Prepares medications, inhalers, EPIs, and diabetes care for students.
- Manages medication disposal pick-up according to established procedures.
- Manages, receives, counts, and delivers medication according to established procedures.
- Prepares and updates students’ yellow cards, health records, and clinic cards.
- Cares for minor injuries in a sick clinic.
- Creates and files student injury reports.
- Creates and maintains medication boxes.
- Manages first aid inventory.
- Manages sick clinic inventory of bandages, ice packs, and medications.
- Documents and updates student allergies and medical conditions.
- Follows student care plans according to established procedures.
- Performs audit checks and makes corrections as needed.
- Attends training for CPR, diabetes, and additional trainings assigned by Nurse Manager.
- Attends field trips with students who require medical care when needed.
- Reviews, policies, procedures, and protocols on a regular basis and attends quarterly check-ins.
- Organizes and manages diabetes care plans with student coverage during field trips, documentation, and testing as needed.
- Organizes and operates student hearing and vision tests yearly.
- Inputs student medical record information into Student Information System.
- Prepares to substitute for Student Support Assistant or School Secretary as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
