Position Title: Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / PRN
Location: Blacksburg, VA and surrounding areas
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our growing team. The PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide in-home therapy services that help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, and overall functional independence.
This position offers flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in patients’ lives within the comfort of their homes.
Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy treatments as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist and physician orders
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, transfer training, and mobility improvement
- Observe and document patient responses to treatment and report changes in condition to the Physical Therapist
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safety techniques
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
- Participate in care planning and case conferences as needed
- Maintain compliance with Medicare, state, and agency regulations
- Travel to patient homes within assigned territory
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current PTA license in the state of Virginia
- Minimum of one year of experience preferred; home health experience a plus
- Current CPR certification
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
