Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Baker I to support our kitchen operations. This role is for an experienced baker and essential to maintaining product consistency, organization, and efficiency across both production and service areas. Working hours are Monday through Wednesday, 9am-5pm. Minimum 24 hours per week with opportunity for more hours as the business grows. Some weekend morning bake offs required. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with us for a long period of time.
Qualifications
3-5 years proven experience as a baker in a production or professional kitchen setting
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment
Ability to follow recipes and adjust as needed
Ability to follow recipes and baking procedures precisely
Ability to employ knowledge of math in weighing and mixing precise quantity of ingredients
Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and perform physically demanding tasks
Attention to details - closely monitor baking process to ensure final products meet set standards
Serv-Safe Food Handler certification required
Availability to work various shifts including overtime, weekends as needed, early morning shift (discussed at least two weeks in advance)
Creative, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Key Responsibilities
Production and Dough Preparation
Prepare, shape, and bake laminated pastries such as egg tart dough
Execute dough production including mixing, lamination, proofing and baking
Prepare fillings and components such as mooncake bean paste fillings, savory and sweet bun fillings, and the like
Maintain consistency and quality in high-volume production
Assist in managing production and staff within the kitchen with the goal to eventually lead these efforts
Eventually, lead production of seasonal and holiday bakery items and supervise staff in preparation of bakery products while maintaining quality assurance standards
Help with packing orders for markets, pick ups, and shipping
Inventory & Organization
Monitor inventory levels and conduct daily checks
Practice FIFO storage and proper labeling
Organize items in walk-in refrigerators and storage areas with purges of off items as needed
Kitchen Operations and Cleanliness
Maintain a clean and organized workstation
Perform routine cleaning and sanitation tasks
Follow food safety standards
Production Planning and Coordination
Follow production schedules and prep lists
Prepare items for future bakeoff and production anywhere between a week or a few months in advance
Coordinate with team members for workflow efficiency
Opportunity for product development and/or co-creation with the CEO (this is in the form of recipe testing and development)
Baking and Oven Operations
Operate ovens and monitor baking conditions
Ensure product consistency and quality
Manage baking trays and timing
Team Collaboration
Reports directly to the CEO
Work with team members to meet production goals
Support and train junior staff as needed
Maintain clear communication across shifts
