Job Title: Assistant Director

Job Overview:
The Assistant Director at CUB Academy plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our childcare and preschool center. This position involves working closely with the Director to ensure the highest quality of care and education for our children, a safe and engaging environment, and the successful management of staff and resources. The Assistant Director will act as the primary point of contact in the Director’s absence and support leadership, administrative, and curriculum functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Support:
- Assist the Director in overseeing all daily operations of the center, ensuring compliance with all state and local regulations.
- Provide leadership and guidance to teaching staff, supporting their professional growth and development.
- Serve as a positive role model, maintaining an atmosphere of respect, professionalism, and collaboration.
- Curriculum and Program Development:
- Work with the Director to develop, implement, and assess age-appropriate curriculum for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
- Ensure classrooms are properly equipped with learning materials and that curriculum goals are being met.
- Regularly evaluate the program’s effectiveness and recommend enhancements for continuous improvement.
- Staff Management:
- Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff members.
- Provide feedback and conduct performance evaluations for staff, maintaining a positive and motivating work environment.
- Help manage staff scheduling to ensure proper classroom ratios are maintained.
- Family Engagement:
- Communicate with parents and families to address any concerns, provide updates on their child’s progress, and maintain positive relationships.
- Assist in organizing parent-teacher conferences, family events, and open houses.
- Respond to inquiries from prospective families and support the enrollment process.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain records of child attendance, staff certifications, and compliance documents.
- Support billing, invoicing, and budget management tasks as needed.
- Assist with maintaining an orderly and clean environment that meets health and safety standards.
- Health and Safety:
- Ensure the center maintains all safety protocols, including regular safety drills, proper sanitation procedures, and adherence to licensing regulations.
- Supervise playground and outdoor activities to ensure safety and security.
- Assist in managing any emergency situations and reporting incidents appropriately.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Minimum of Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a childcare or preschool setting, with leadership/management experience.
- Knowledge of state childcare regulations and early childhood curriculum standards.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Problem-solving and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and handle various administrative and classroom duties.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must be flexible with hours to work with other assistant director.
