Duties
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble and install metal structures
- Measure materials using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise fabrication and fitting
- Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and welding equipment (including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW) to cut, shape, weld (following AWS standards), and assemble metal components
- Operate cranes and rigging equipment safely to lift and position heavy steel beams and ductwork with precision
- Fabricate metal parts in the shop using sheet metal fabrication techniques and mechanical fabrication processes
- Install structural steel components on-site according to blueprints while adhering to safety protocols and ASME codes & standards
- Perform pipe threading, soldering, welding (including gas metal arc welding), and assembly of ductwork or other mechanical systems
- Conduct quality inspections with calipers, micrometers, schematics, and measuring instruments to verify accuracy of work
- Follow safety protocols diligently during all phases of construction site activities including working at heights or in confined spaces
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, inspections completed, and materials used throughout each project
Experience
- Proven construction site experience with a focus on structural steel installation or metal fabrication projects
- Skilled in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings for mechanical systems and structural components
- Hands-on experience with welding techniques such as MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) following AWS standards
- Familiarity with rigging operations including the use of forklifts for material handling in a manufacturing or construction environment
- Ability to operate machining tools like plasma cutters or press brake machines for precise fabrication tasks
- Mechanical knowledge related to pipe threading, schematics interpretation, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly processes
- Understanding of safety protocols specific to construction sites involving heavy machinery and welding activities
- Basic math skills including shop math necessary for measurements and calculations during fabrication and installation tasks

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
