We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric treatments, utilizing advanced chairside skills.
- Perform expanded functions such as placing fillings, applying sealants, fabricating temporary crowns, and other delegated duties within scope of practice.
- Take and develop high-quality dental radiographs (X-ray), including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Manage patient records efficiently using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and medical history updates to support comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to uphold clinic safety standards.
- Support front desk operations by acting as a dental receptionist when needed, managing appointments, patient communication, and medical documentation.
- Apply knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to assist with treatment planning and patient education.
- Collaborate seamlessly in a four-handed dentistry setup to optimize treatment flow and reduce procedure times.
- Stay current with advancements in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatrics, medical coding, and medical imaging to enhance clinical performance.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and billing processes.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security.
- Experience with X-ray techniques and operating 3D scanners for comprehensive diagnostics.
- Knowledge of infection control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and interpret basic medical information relevant to dental care.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles to effectively assist young patients.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting professionally with patients of all ages and collaborating with team members.
